Knoxville District 1 News
It has been a very busy November. The elections are finally over and I want to congratulate my new fellow council members and of course Mayor Elect Rogero. I also want to thank those that offered their names up but were not successful. There were many excellent choices but someone has to win.
By now you have probably heard that the new dog park is open at Charter Doyle Park. The day was cold but the hearts were warmed to see our furry friends running through their new digs. I hope you will stop by and check it out. Also thank you to Joe Walsh the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City for repaving the walking/jogging trail too. It is essentially a new park. Of course the biggest thanks go out to Randy and Ginny Boyd and the associates at PetSafe for their generosity for funding the park. Let’s remember to patronize PetSafe for their day camp, boarding services, and wonderful products they sell as a big thank you.
I reached out to our State Representatives Harry Brooks, Joe Armstrong, and Frank Nicely and Senator Massey to see if the state could assist the merchants that are feeling the effects of the bridge closure. They came through with flying colors and Monday the 21st our State Comptroller Justin Wilson, TDOT Commissioner John Schroer, and many other state employees embarked on South Knoxville for a listening tour. We broke into groups of 8 and canvassed businesses to hear firsthand the concerns and successes the businesses along Chapman are experiencing. I think we will be able to assist some businesses and I will follow up with them in the near future with hopefully some good news.
I hope you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday and as always feel free to call me at 454-7216.
Nick
