“I am flattered by the speculation that I might be a “dark horse” candidate for Mayor of Knoxville. Let me say in the plainest possible terms that I am NOT a candidate for Mayor in 2011, dark horse or otherwise.
I asked the people of South Knoxville and Fort Sanders to elect me as their Councilman, which they did. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to serve as the City Councilman for South Knoxville and Fort Sanders and both communities deserve my undivided attention.
I enjoy my work, enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife Joy, and maintain an extremely heavy schedule with my Council duties. I don’t intend to be diverted from those responsibilities and I think there will be many candidates for the people of Knoxville to choose from at election time.
Again, while I appreciate the suggestion, I reiterate, I am NOT a candidate for Mayor of Knoxville.”
